Virus

thekimellis:

I read something about an artist, who has been in the game for a relatively short period of time, thinking about “retiring” which made me think…..

You don’t “retire” from something unless that something has you financially situated for the rest of your life. If what you are currently doing is not flourishing and making you money or you have lost interest in it or the passion for it, you are simply resigning from it…. not retiring. Big difference.

“Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.” - V for Vendetta

Or in this case, V for Virus.

Greetings Germs! How are you? I hope all is well. Welcome to the official Virus website. It’s been a long time coming, and I’m happy that it’s finally up and running.

Anywho, I want to thank all of you Germs out there for supporting me, as nothing would be possible without any of you. Some people are still confused as to what I mean when I say Germs. Some people get really nervous and grab their Purell and squirt in their hands repeatedly (that’s what she said). Let me break it down for those of you who aren’t familiar with my terminology.

I go by the name of Virus. The name Virus was given to me in high school. I used to call myself Symptom because I was a pretty sick emcee lol. In high school I started battling people during my lunch breaks. Eventually I began battling at the open mics at school and I was winning over seniors (it was a big deal at the time). Then one day, someone had said I was sicker than a Symptom, and that I was more like a Virus. The name stuck with me ever since (ta-da! Dope huh?).

So that’s how Virus came about (put the Purell away now). Now, in order for me to grow as an artist, I need for my fanbase to grow. I need to Spread the Virus across the world so that everyone knows who I am. And what spreads viruses? That’s right, Germs! =)

Germs and Virus go hand in hand with each other (simmer down now Lady Germs, simmer down lol). I need to have my music spread across the world and I need you Germs to help make that happen. I put out ill music (more specifically, the Epidemic EP out now), and you help spread it! Without any Germs, the Virus would die. If people don’t like my music, that’s cool. They’re Germophobes lmao. I love each and everyone of you for riding with me, and we’re about to have a fun ride I promise.

When I turned 18 I decided to ease off of the battle rap scene and focus on making actual music. Fast forward 6 years and I’ve released a mixtape with DJ V-DUB, released a full length album (The Catalyst), released an EP (Epidemic), I’ve had my single played on WGCI (“Just Dance” off of The Catalyst album), I’ve worked with the greatest emcees who’ve ever lived (JUICE, Punchline, Wordsworth, Crooked I, Royce da 5’9”, etc), I’ve thrown shows, performed for other people, and many more things which would take me forever to write. I’ve been fortunate enough to pursue my music career over these 6 years thanks to you Germs. However, I look at the past years as a warm up. I made several mistakes over time, but those mistakes served to teach me and help me grow as an artist. Now I have much more wisdom which will help me succeed. With all of that said, please Spread the Virus by telling all of your friends to be cool like you and become a Germ. I promised at the beginning of 2012 that I’d have a lot of surprises in store for all of you. This is the warm up. I love you all! Stay tuned for the next blog post!

Spread the Virus!

Versified, vocalised with violent velocity//
Vindicating the virtue of verbal virtuosity//
Veni, vidi, vici victims can’t view my vertex//
Vice Versa victory, verse is a vendetta vortex//

Ignorance influenced by intricate irrelevance//
Indicates inattentiveness to infinite intelligence//
Influx illness; inundated inventory//
Inflicting incisions involving intellectual imagery//

Raw rhymes release rapturous radiance like reefer//
Resulting in rushes recommended by receivers//
